Have you ever seen the movie Terminator? Skynet, an artificial intelligence that appears in the movie, takes over defense systems and launches nuclear missiles to destroy humanity. In short, Skynet is a system that hacks systems. At first glance, it seems like a scary story, but we currently need such a system to maintain security at the speed of software development that exceeds human capabilities.

In this talk, I will discuss our group's efforts to create an automated hacking system like Skynet. In particular, I will share our group's work for automatic vulnerability detection and automatic exploit generation that has been going on for several years. We will also discuss open questions and how offensive research can contribute to this.
